Counting Worksheets for Kindergarten by Month

I've created a series of counting worksheets for kindergarten to help your little kiddos practice their counting skills. It's pretty cool because they cover counting from almost every angle, so you have plenty of relevant resources at the ready. And they're all print and go so no prep is required on your part.

Use them as individual worksheets, a stapled packet, or bind them together in a handy counting book. The counting worksheets in each set are arranged in order so that skills build upon each other making them perfect for a booklet format. I've had several teachers tell me that while they do their assessments they've had their kids work on these math worksheets. What a great idea!

Which Counting Worksheets for Kindergarten Set Comes First?

These worksheets were created to go along with a traditional kindergarten school year. Chronologically speaking, the month of July comes first and the month of June comes last.

The July set comes with pages focused on counting to 5 and counting to 10. Gradually, over the course of the months, the sets begin to include counting to 15 and counting to 20 worksheets. By the time you come to February there are no counting to 5 worksheets, more counting to 10 worksheets, counting to 15 worksheets, and counting to 20 worksheets.

All of the sets include at least one counting to 100 worksheet so you can expose your kids to the idea of counting to 100, especially in the early months. By the later months your kids can use these pages to actually practice counting to 100 by ones and tens as per the Common Core standards.

What Kind of Worksheets are Included in These Sets?

Each set of kindergarten counting worksheets has 30 pages. In each set, the bulk of the pages are counting worksheets, that's why they're called counting worksheets! But, they also include other pages for the sake of variety and so your kids have opportunities to practice other skills, too. They were all created keeping Common Core counting and cardinality standards in mind. Here's the basics:

20 Counting Worksheets

Each set has a 20 page variety of counting worksheets to meet targeted skills as well as to provide you with differentiated resources to meet the varied needs of your students. They come in the form of:

graphing worksheets
cut and paste worksheets
write the number counted in the space provided
circle the number counted
color the circle with the number counted

10 Counting and Number Worksheets

Ten pages in each set include the following:

color by number worksheets
number order worksheets
count to 100 by ones worksheets
count to 100 by tens worksheets
number tracing worksheets

The number tracing pages have a variety of trace numbers 1-5, trace numbers 1-10, and trace numbers 1-20, depending on the month and the skills being targeted. Great for number formation practice!

Themed Worksheets

The worksheets for each month are themed to coincide with the holidays, season, and weather for that month. For example, the February set has themes of Groundhog's Day, the president's birthdays, Chinese New Year, Valentine's Day, Super Bowl Sunday and winter. Every set has lots of animals!
